Do you have to have a lawyer to distribute trust assets after the Trustee dies?

My mother recently died and she had a lawyer make a trust , do you need a lawyer to distribute that trust?

If the trust was PROPERLY set up, it provides for WHO takes over as trustee when the original trustee dies. Depending on the terms of the trust, it may NOT be distributed. A trust CAN continue for generations if it is set up to do so. What you DO need an attorney for is to review the trust and determine what should be done now.

I am sorry to hear about your mother. She should have designated a distributor of her will. This person will execute the will and distribute the trust.
