What type of lawyer do I need to write legalities on my website?

I have a new website that I am launching selling items that are made to order. I need a lawyer that deals with writing legalities for the site as well as dealing with copyright issues. What type of lawyer should I seek and could I find one online?

A general practitioner will fit the bill the best. Pull up your state bar directory by googling xxxx(your state) bar membership directory or use the lawyers.com directory. Then choose business lawyers. Then make some calls. (incidentally for more on the copyright question you need to be specific. Copyright law is practiced by IP (intellectual property) lawyers.

If you are making physical things for people, there are two things you are dealing with 1) the tech issues for how to take custom orders (not a legal issue) and 2) the contract language when the persons makes the order.

If you you want to DIY, then google around finding other similar sites that look professionally done and copy what they appear to be doing. Most states are covered under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) which provides that made to order items must be paid for when ordered unless the product does not match the order.

good luck
